Strichi Colony #1
!! as of posting this devlog, Strichi Colony is not yet available for download !!
Strichi Colony is a procedurally generated tower defense game. The player spends their time defending an ore extractor until it is defeated. Once defeated, the player is then sent back to their base, which is a colony. This colony provides options for upgrades or general customization.
Devlog begin:
This devlog is just going to go over what I have done since starting the project. First up, let's take a look at the lobby/colony :D
I based the colony on the O'Neill cylinder. The player is granted the option of moving around cylinder freely to make building a bit easier.
UI:
The UI is still a heavy work in progress but lets delve into it a bit here. The first UI menu is the build menu, which allows the player to either invest in decorations for the ship (free) or spend earned resources to build upgrade modules which are buildings that provide a permanent buff in each battle.
Our next menu is the mission select menu. From here the player can specify the dimensions of the grid that they have to defend on as well as select the area in which they want to travel to. Each area brings income of a differing resource.
Tower Defense:
A tower is placed randomly on the grid. From there, pathways are built based on the greatest distance of cells along the border of the grid. These pathways are utilized by enemies, being their only form of waypoint finding.
Towers can be placed on any cell except the path. Time is slowed down in the build menu as well as the radius of the selected tower is shown.
Towers will affect enemies differently. Here we have the ice tower slowing down the enemy and demolishing it.
That's it for now. I've been having extreme amounts of fun with this project and I'm excited to keep updating for all those interested :D
